Memorial Day

We had a fun filled Memorial Day! Maury and Daddy went fishing while Carter took his morning nap and then we all went for a swim! Carter thought the fence was tasty!

Summertime?

This week we have been trying our best to get summer started. The rainy, cool days are not helping. We tried to ignore the weather and threw on our swimsuits for the zoo splash pad (foam zone too) and the pool! Of course neither outing lasted long but we did manage to get in a little summer fun! All that work of lathering on sunscreen wasn't really worth it!

Hard Work

I am proud to announce that Carter has taken his first steps! He is not walking yet but getting close. He is a speed crawler and prefers to get around that way. Walking slows him down and is hard work! Today was the first day he has taken more than a couple of steps. We made him do it so much he was sweating when I put him to bed! Sorry it's sidesways and dark!

Summer Reading Sign Up

Today we went to the library to register for the summer reading program. Maury and Carter played a while, filled their bags with books, and got a free cookie! Next week the programs begin and the first one is a puppet show! Yea!

Farewell MDO

Today was Maury and Carter's last day of Mother's Day Out for a while. We hated to have to say goodbye to their wonderful teachers. Homewood Day School will definitely be missed (mostly by Mommy)!

A Happy Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we went to church and then to lunch with Mimi, Gandy, Gene Gene and the Jackson's. It was also Gandy's 60th birthday! I got some very special gifts made with lots of love! We are so thankful for the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers in our lives!

"That's why it's called TRAINING."

We (I) have been working on potty training Maury for about a week. After a couple of days I was ready to throw in the towel and told my mom I thought she should have it down (in 2-3 days). My mom said "That's why it's called training." Okay, so it takes a while, I get it. I'm now glad that I didn't give up and I'm happy to report that we've almost got it! We even ventured out to the zoo yesterday....used the potty at the zoo and the portable car potty several times! No #1 accidents since Thursday (#2 is another story, it'll take a little longer)! We've used sticker charts, candy, and any other bribes we could think of along the way! Hooray for Maury! I'm so excited to almost have one child out of diapers!

Miss Patty Cake on Rick & Bubba!

Owen listens to Rick and Bubba every morning on his way to work. Friday morning he calls at 6:15 to say that Miss Patty Cake would be on the show within the hour. Since Maury and Carter are early risers we hopped in the car in our pj's and headed to the Rick & Bubba studio! Because it was so early there weren't many of Miss Patty Cake's "friends" there and we got to meet her!

For those of you who don't know Miss Patty Cake, she "uses her two hands to clap, heart to love, and voice to sing praises to God!" Maury is her #1 fan!

Spring Festival!

Last night we went to the Spring Festival at Maury and Carter's school. We picked up Henry on the way! They kids had so much fun! There were several gigantic blow-up slides and a trampoline Carter got to bounce around in. Carter really wanted to slide like the big kids! We had pizza and cookies and were exhausted after about an hour and a half!

First of Many

Monday we made our first zoo trip of the summer (Carter's first ever I think). We bought a family pass for the year so we plan on making many more visits. Henry and Pierce joined in on the fun! Despite their appearance in the pictures, all four kids had a great time! The only mishap was a nasty fall resulting in a bloody knee for Maury but she held it together because she did not want to leave the zoo!
