"See you waiter, Mommy!"

Maury and Carter made a "train" in the kitchen this morning and they helped the babies board and then hopped on themselves. They waved to me in the den saying "See you waiter, Mommy! We are going to the zoo!"
I'm so happy they have started playing so well together. It's so nice to hear their sweet conversations instead of screaming from biting or hair pulling!

Maury got these fabulous glasses at the gym yesterday as a party favor for the gym's 5th birthday. She thinks they are hilarious, and they are pretty funny!

Water Readiness √√√

Last night was Maury's last swimming lesson and it wasn't too much different from her first. She did really great I just think I had higher expectations for what is taught at the YMCA to 3 year old beginners. Maury never really got comfortable with Sam (had to push her through the door each time)but was happy once she got in the pool, and the lessons didn't really progress past water readiness (I was kind of hoping for some back floating at least). However, she loves the water and is totally comfortable (as she was before lessons started) and I'm thinking she will learn to swim this summer. Maury even learned to look up and smile for the camera!

Zoo Fun!

We met friends at the zoo on Earth Day not realizing Earth Day draws a crowd at the zoo! It was pretty wild! We managed to keep up with everyone and enjoy the beautiful day!

Daddy's Boy?

Wondering what the boys did while Maury and I were away? Owen took a couple of pictures with his phone but that's the only evidence I have. Sunday after church they went to VCC for some golfing and maybe a little lawnmower riding? Monday night instead of giving Carter a bath Owen thought it would be easier and more efficient if they showered together and Carter loved it! Owen wore his swimsuit, he said he wasn't sure about the rules on that, HA! I'm pretty sure they did a lot of father/son bonding during those two days we were gone because Carter, who is a pretty big Mama's boy, woke up the morning after we got back crying for his Daddy instead of me!

American Girls

Mimi took us on a very special girls trip to Atlanta this past weekend. We spent lots of time at the American Girl Boutique and Bistro and even drove north to Babyland General Hospital where Cabbage Patch Kids are born (http://www.cabbagepatchkids.com/index.html)! There's no way I could choose my favorite part of the trip, Maury says "pushing the twins in the blue stroller" at the American Girl store is at the top of her list! We also got to celebrate Charlotte and Gray's 5th birthdays and Aunt Amy's 35th! We had so much fun! Thanks Mimi!

The girls were so excited to find beds for their babies when we checked into our hotel!

They even have boosters for dolls at the American Girl Bistro!

Happy Birthday Girls!

Choo-Choo!!!

I took Carter on a special outing this afternoon to the Calera Railroad Museum for A Day Out With Thomas. I had to wake him up from his nap and we barely made it on the train before departure. We took a short ride on Thomas and then played with train stuff and said "hello" to Sir Topham Hatt (from a distance, he was a little scary). Carter was a little sad that his buddy Pierce was sick and didn't get to join us but he still had a great time. He is sleeping with the Thomas train car he got as a souvenir!

A Circus Party!

Today we helped celebrate Olivia's 3rd birthday at her bouncing circus party! I learned at the party that Maury and Carter have a fear of clowns (I think they got this from Uncle Brad)! They were happy to accept a balloon animal from Whistler the clown but would not get close enough for face paint. While keeping a safe distance from Whistler they had a blast jumping, sliding, and eating lots of special treats! Carter did finally warm up enough to give Whistler a fist bump!

Our Backyard Fortress

Maury and Carter's birthday present is getting close to completion. Owen has put a whole lot of time into this project. He couldn't just build it according to the plans and directions it came with, he went above and beyond to create a super-duper play set! He added a wing complete with shingle siding and a deck on top. There's a few finishing touches left to be done but Maury and Carter are already enjoying it, even Pierce and Henry stopped by to check it out!

Big Boy's 2 Year Stats

Carter had his two year old check up today and it went well! He is 36 pounds and 36 inches, once again off the charts. Dr. Hamm estimates he will grow to be about 6'2"! He did really well with the entire exam, never fussed or complained. He willingly did what he was asked and let the nurse and Dr. Hamm do their job. He did not like his shot and the whole way home in the car he said "Hurt my leg Mommy!" We are so thankful for our precious, healthy, big boy!

This is a picture from yesterday at nap time when Carter was supposed to be sleeping. Evidently he got out of bed, turned his light on, got his new pack of underwear out of his drawer and then put all 8 pair on his right leg!

Need a little pick-me-up?

This picture of Carter trying on his first pair of big boy underwear is sure to make anyone smile (and giggle)!!!

Happy Birthday Wily!!!

We helped our friend Lily (Maury and Carter call her Wily) celebrate her 3rd birthday at Jump Zone last night! I think the slides were the kids' favorite. Maury also loved the obstacle course, Carter got stuck in that one so it does not rank high on his list! After all of the bouncing and sliding there was yummy pizza, cake, and ice cream! A perfect Saturday night for a two and three year old! Happy Birthday Lily!

High Country 5K

We made our church's annual race a family event again this year but instead of us all running (with kids in the double jogger, big mistake) I ran and Owen and the kids volunteered along the course. Owen, Maury and Carter got to their spot before the race and watched a movie in the back of the truck until the runners started going by. Then Maury and Carter cheered "Way to go" and "Good job" throughout the race while Owen directed the runners. They were excited when I went by but wanted to go with me!

Maury's First Swimming Lesson

The days and hours leading up to Maury's first swimming lesson were filled with excitement. She was all into it until we got there and she realized Sam was her teacher. Nothing personal against Sam, Maury has just never been a big fan of strangers (especially male strangers). The first 5-10 minutes were a little rough but after she warmed up she did pretty well. However, each time I mention swimming lessons and going back she says she does not want to go! Guess we will see on Thursday!
