Ballet Today

Here are a few pictures (through the glass) from today's dance class.  Maury is still loving it!

Summer Reading

With summer half way over we finally made it to the library to sign up for the summer reading program.  We weren't there long before Maury and Carter did exactly what I told them not to do during our pre-library pep talk ("run away from me and we'll go home" were my exact words I believe).  The sign-up took place before the double melt-down so we did make it home with our special bags and a few books (probably should have put it all back)!

Slumber Party!

Maury's friend Caroline spent the night last week and they had all kinds of fun!  They painted nails, played dress-up, did a lot of dancing, made pancakes, and they even slept pretty well!  Carter didn't participate in all of the girly stuff but he was the leader in most of the dance performances!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Maury and Carter worked hard to make their Daddy's Father's Day super special!  First on the agenda was a trip to Krispy Kreme to pick out Daddy's favorite doughnuts.  When we got home they decided they wanted the ones they picked out for him but we had plenty to go around!

We went to church and then to Daddy to one of his favorite places to eat, Sumo!  Plus a hibachi restaurant is always a great place to entertain the kids!

After nap time we made a quick trip to Decatur for dinner with my Daddy!
We are so blessed and thankful for the special Fathers in our lives!  Happy Father's Day Daddy, Gandy, and Papa C!!!

Toy Story 3

I worked yesterday and Super Dad took Maury and Carter to their very first movie!  They saw Toy Story 3 and according to Owen did really well up until the last 10 minutes when Carter was throwing a fit to leave and Maury was screaming to stay!  They had popcorn for lunch and fell asleep on the way home!!!  I was sad I missed it but so glad they got to do something special while I worked!

Carter's Crew Cut

We didn't quite get out money's worth out of Carter's last hair cut (it was barely a trim) but I do believe we made up for it today!  I know he will be much cooler in this hot weather with a pound or two of hair gone!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Maury and Carter wanted to have a Spiderman party for Owen's birthday!  They were really excited to decorate and make his card.  They hid behind the couch as he arrived home from work then jumped out and yelled "Surprise" when he opened the door!  And of course they couldn't keep from telling him what was in his present and that we got him an ice cream cake!  It doesn't take much to impress a two and three year old!

Summer Sunday

We went outside for a minute to take a picture before church and it was already hot and humid at 9 am!  My camera fogged up before I started shooting!

Hero Headquarters

We had lots of fun at VBS this week!  I taught so Maury and Carter got to go and learn all about the Heros of the Bible!  I took a doctor kit and "patients" one day to teach my kids about everyday heros and being brave and Maury and Carter had a big time playing doctor when we got home that day!

Maury's First Ballet Class

I wasn't sure what to expect from Maury's first ballet class but I didn't have high hopes.  I was afraid if I could even get her through the door she would cry in the corner then entire time and we wouldn't return.  Miss Maury proved me wrong and did the exact opposite!  She walked right in, never took her eyes off of the teacher and did each and every move as she was told!  She loved it!  The pictures aren't great because I took them through glass but you get the idea.  Maury was thrilled that Lily and Olivia are in her class and Carter had fun watching and cheering the girls on!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

My birthday this year was almost identical to last year:  VBS, naps for the kids, a trip to the pool, and strawberry cake.  Now that Maury and Carter are at the age where they love birthdays it was really fun listening to all they had to say and the questions asked about my special day.  On the way to VBS it was "Are we going to your birthday Mommy?" and "What kind of birthday are you having Mommy?" and "Where is your cake/candles?".  Carter also added that in addition to the cake and candles he would be buying me a "little piece of chocolate."  Carter must have over heard Maury say I was 31 (she's into numbers and ages) because I heard him tell Owen on the phone "It's Mommy's birthday and she's 81!"  I'm so lucky to have these two to make me smile and make my birthday that much better!

Nap Mat?

Maury found Carter's old changing table pad under his bed and wanted to take her nap on it this afternoon.  To avoid any drama I okayed it and thought I'd give her 5 minutes then make her get in the bed.  When I went back in to check on her this is what I found!

Good-bye Beach!!!

All of the passengers in my car (including me) were exhausted on the way home and took a morning nap (not including me)!  We had such a wonderful week and can't wait to go back!  Thanks Mimi and Gandy!

Day Six

We started day six with Popsicles in Pj's!
Then we headed out for one last day of fun in the sun but quickly realized the oil had come ashore and spent most of the day at the pool!

A quick picture before heading out to dinner:
