MDO Birthday Treat

I took cookies for Carter to share with his MDO class for an early birthday treat. They sang "Happy Birthday" to Carter and gobbled up the cookies in a hurry!

Eggstra Special Eggs!

We got a Sesame Street egg dying kit this year so Maury and Carter got to make Elmo, Abby, Cookie Monster, and Big Bird eggs! I was surprised at how well it went and they had a blast!

Hippity Hoppity

We had some practice rounds at home but our Easter egg hunt at church Sunday was our first official hunt (for this year and maybe ever, it has rained the past few years)! Maury knew exactly what she was doing but Carter lost interest pretty fast. A train ride, some fun on the tumble bus, and beautiful weather all made for a perfect afternoon!

American Girl Fashion Show

Saturday Maury and I took a girls only trip to Decatur to see The American Girl Fashion Show. Cousin Mary B stared as Ruthie and Char and Gray Bug got to do a little modeling with their dolls. Maury and John David were a little squirmy in their seats and went through lots of snacks!

I had an American Girl doll when I was little and Maury wanted to get her out of the attic when we got home. She was so excited to open the box and was grinning from ear to ear until the doll's leg fell off! Surprisingly the elastic holding her limbs on just gave up after 20 years. Lucky for Molly we are going to the American Girl store in Altanta in a few weeks so we can admit her to the hospital for surgery!

Gone Fishin'

When Owen got home from work today he mentioned that he wanted to go fishing (he meant by himself) and I told him we were planning on going to the park but we could join him instead. He was thrilled. Maury already had a Princess fishing pole from previous trips so we stopped on the way and got Carter a Spiderman pole so there would be no fighting on the shore. We didn't catch any fish but we had a good time trying!

Maybe Next Year....

Each year when we visit Santa and the Easter Bunny I'm thinking maybe this is the year they will do it. Not so sure we will ever get there. Thanks to a couple of knees as props we did capture a photo with Mr. Bunny, nothing spectacular but we got one for the scrapbook.

Day Six: Daddy's Day!

I had to work on Saturday (and was thankful for the break) so Daddy was in charge. Owen doesn't like to be stuck in the house all day with two toddlers so he planned an outing to keep them busy. First to the zoo, then to Mellow Mushroom for pizza so they would be in a great position for the St. Patty's parade that went by after lunch!

Days Four and Five: Cousin Time!

We spent the end of the week in Decatur visiting with Mimi, Gandy, the Wise's and the Jackson's. The weather finally warmed up enough for us to go to the park. We tried out every park in town! No one sleeps much when we go to Mimi's so Friday afternoon resulted in exhaustion by all!

These may be my favorite pictures of the week! Maury and Charlotte were quiet for a while in Mimi's playroom and when they came downstairs they were proud to show us the art work all over Maury. Char tried to tell us Maury did it but letter C's and the well drawn shapes made us think otherwise!

Day Three: St. Patty's Playdate

We had so much fun at Caroline's house playing and eating special green treats! The kids were a little frightened by a visit from Lucky the Leprechaun but other than that a great time was had by all!

Day Two: McWane=Insane

Whew! I knew the McWane Center would be a little crowded during Spring Break but it was totally crazy! Dora was there which I guess made the crowds even larger. After standing in line 40 minutes Maury and Carter weren't quite as excited to meet Dora as I had hoped. We talked about it for days and they both said they were going to say "Hola" and give her a hug (Carter said he was going to hug Map and Backpack too). Even while waiting I didn't sense that they were going to back out. Oh well, I was wrong. Carter did warm up and give Dora a high-five but not big sis. Maury has never been one for characters. We did meet some friends at McWane but had trouble keeping up with everyone. We will not be going back to McWane during Spring Break next year no matter who is there to meet!

Spring Break Day One: Wear Well-Read Red

Because we have no MDO during Spring Break we've been looking for lots of fun activities to do! Day one we me friends at the library for Wear Well-Read Red day where our favorite books were supposed to inspire us to create a masterpiece! I never saw the designated books but we did create a few masterpieces while wearing red!

A Few Days With The Days

We don't get to see the Day family very often and have never had a spend-the-night party with them, until now. Having a 3 year old, an almost 2 year old, and twin 20 month olds under one roof for two nights did mean a little less sleep than normal but it was worth it, the kids had so much fun! Mahlon and Sarah Beth (Wesley and Rebecca too) are welcome back anytime!

"I on't wike dat jamas."

Translation: I don't like these pajamas (actually church clothes). As soon as I dressed Carter for church this morning he pulled at his outfit and said that exact phrase. I thought I would be able to get away with dressing him in sweet clothes for a little longer but I'm afraid he will soon put a stop to it! So sad for Mommy :(

Super Saturday

Owen had to work this weekend so we added a few extra activities to keep us entertained and out of the house. We spent the morning at the park with friends, had a picnic lunch and then went home for Maury and Carter to take 3 hour naps. Then we went out for ice cream and to the Disney Store (no pic from that chaos)!

84 Years Young

We made a quick trip to Decatur last week to wish our very special Nana a "Happy Birthday!" The cookie cake was quite a treat! We love you Nana!

Cleaning Out Closets

I have to organize and clean out closest frequently around here and because we are blessed with tons of hand-me-downs we never know what we will come across. Maury was excited when she found this and after wearing it a while she said "I better take my hat off so it doesn't get wet!"

Babysitting

When I told Aunt Amy I would love to keep Mary Bradford and Gray Saturday night I didn't realize Mary Bradford would be the babysitter. She is so grown up and so helpful. I was even able to get a little done around the house. Maury and Carter were entertained the entire night by the Jackson girls!

Daddy's Latest Project

We got Maury and Carter a play set for the backyard for their birthdays and it has turned into quite the project for Owen. Thousands of pieces in several boxes with one builder is not an easy or quick task. I know it will be worth all of his hard work when it's complete. Maury and Carter can hardly wait!
