THE DENTIST

Having fun in the waiting room!
Getting a little nervous......
Carter was finished and waiting on Maury on a tooth stool, he told the dentist "I already did that!"
I've been dreading this day for a while now.  2 kids, 1 mommy, and the dentist.  I talked it up big, read books about the dentist, promised ice cream after, did everything I could think of to make it a positive experience.  Those of you who know me well know how I despise the dentist and Maury is just like me in so many ways including having a fear of the dentist.  This being her third trip I thought maybe she would be okay and it was better than the first two, just a few tears and maybe even a smile when it was all over with.  Carter was excited about going and happy in the waiting room but when they called him back he clung to me for dear life (Maury was hiding behind me crying).  Once they got going he was totally fine and talked and laughed through most of it.  Next time they may even be brave enough to lay on the table instead of sit in my lap!

Zoo Fun

Since we've had a week with temps below 90 we took advantage and met friends at the zoo!  The kids saw lots of animals, rode the train, had lunch and played in the splash pad!  We haven't been to the zoo all summer because of the heat so they were really excited and had a great time!

It Fits!

I cleaned out closets during MDO today and boxed up lots of little things that my big kids can no longer wear.  After naps Maury and Carter discovered my project and I told them that it was lots of baby clothes that no longer fit them.  I went in the other room and when I returned a few minutes later this is what I found!  "See Mommy, it fits" they said!

Our Little Mermaid

We've been amazed at Maury's swimming progress this summer.  Yesterday she told me to leave her life-jacket in the car because she did not need it anymore to jump off the diving board.  So I watched in amazement as she jumped off the diving board and swam to the side without reservation.  I had been telling her for a while she could do it but once again she had to do it on her own time!

Superstar

I've been so proud of both Maury and Carter's behavior reports from school.  Maury had been a "Superstar" two weeks in a row (she kept all of her stars everyday of the week)!  Friday night I told her we would make her a special treat and she picked yummy cookie/brownies!  Oh how I wish they were Superstars for Mommy at home but I'm so glad they are so sweet for their teachers!

Parties on the Move

We were super excited to discover that Parties on the Move (a favorite birthday party venue) has started having open play during the week!  We met Pierce there Thursday and the kids had a ball!

Headed to Church

This was taken last Sunday as we headed out the door to church.  There are not many Sunday mornings (especially when Daddy is at work) that we have time to take pictures!

Miss Patty Cake's Pajama Party!!!!!

Last night we went to Char and JD's church for a Pajama Party with Miss Patty Cake!  The kids sang, danced in the aisles (and a little too close to the stage), had cookies and milk, loaded up with souvenirs, and even got to meet Miss Patty Cake!  Miss Patty Cake told us that she'll be in Birmingham next month, I bet Daddy will be excited to take them to see her again!

The Perfect Day

Carter's behavior report from school made me laugh yesterday.  For a two year old it doesn't get much better than this:  great day, loved lunch (as always), poo-pooed in the potty.  So proud of him!

Back to School

Today Maury and Carter started a new year of pre-school!  They are growing up so fast!  This is the first time I've packed back-packs without diapers and this is the first time there have been no tears at beginning of the year carpool!!!  They even gave me a thumbs up while we were waiting in line!  I think part of the reason they were so excited is because they got to wear their new shoes (their first pair of "running shoes").  I think they would go just about anywhere I told them to go as long as I let them wear those shoes!

Weatherwax Reunion

It's a little odd that a few weeks ago I had been to maybe two family reunions my whole life and now I've been to two more two weekends in a row!  Saturday we headed to Huntsville for the Weatherwax reunion (my mom's family).  The blow-up water slide was the highlight for most of the kids but Carter was in heaven playing in the dirt with lots of trucks and tractors.  Carter met a new buddy, cousin Michael, who shares his passion for things that go!  Maury hung right in there with the big cousins doing tricks on the slide!

Meet the Teacher

We went to meet Maury and Carter's new teachers last night at Homewood Day School.  They loved checking out their classrooms and were excited to find their very own "desk."  Carter's buddy Pierce's spot was right next to Carter and Maury found her sweet friend Sara Elizabeth's name right across the table!  Mrs. Lora and Mrs. Molly were so sweet but Maury and Carter were not quite ready to get close enough to take a picture with them, they'll warm up quickly I'm sure.  I know they will have a great year and are excited about starting on Monday!

NO MORE DIAPERS!!!!

We are officially out of diapers at the Coulson house!  Hooray!  Carter has done really well but has taken a little longer to train than Maury.  We still have a little trouble with #2 but today he took a big step by telling me he need to go and actually going right then (we usually sit a while or try a few times)!  He has become very fond of his potty prizes (or as Carter calls them "poo-poo trucks") as you can see in the pictures!

The Last Dance?

Not just Maury's last dance of the summer, quite possibly her last dance ever.  She told me she does not want to do ballet anymore!  I can't imagine why, she has loved every minute of it!  Maybe she'll change her mind before we have to commit because she is a fabulous dancer!
