My Sleeper

Maury has always required lots of beauty sleep. Since she moved to her twin bed in November she is bad about getting up too early and struggles to make it past lunch to nap. After putting Carter down for his morning nap today Maury and I came down to the playroom. She was busy in her kitchen then sat down to watch Elmo. I was catching up on email and when I turned around this is what I found. Sound asleep still as I blog about it! How can I get the child to sleep past 6am???

Build A Bear

We headed to the mall today so Maury could use her Build A Bear gift card she got from the Jackson's for her bday. She had lots of fun but found there to be way to many animals, clothes, and accessories to choose from! I thought we'd never get out of there! She wasn't too fond of the employees talking to her, she would have rather done it all by herself! Carter liked watching the stuffing machine. Thanks Mary Bradford and Gray!!!!

2 Year Old Check-Up

Maury had about as much fun at her check-up yesterday as she did at the dentist last week! From the scale to the stethoscope she was not appreciative of any "checking up" done to her. She walked in with a smile and even after getting a shot was able to walk out with a smile but there was no smiling (and lots of screaming) in between! Thankfully, she is a healthy 29 pound, 36 inch two year old and we don't have shots again until 2012!

Whatever

Yesterday Maury was taking a bath and began arguing with me about bath toys. She was playing with a cow and she said "Mama it's a pig." I said "No Maury, it's a cow." She replied "No, it's a pig." I said "Okay, it's a pig." Then of course she said "It's a cow!" Anyway this continued for a while back and forth until I said "whatever" and Maury quickly picked up on the new word and added it to her vocabulary! I had to run and get the camera so I could capture her new word on tape! Oh and she is saying "cheese" when I first turn the camera on!

Happy 2nd Birthday Maury!!!

 

Today being Maury's actual birthday we had to do more celebrating! She took #2 cookies to MDO and got to hear another round of "Happy Birthday" and then we went to Chuck E Cheese for a little more partying tonight (Pierce and Henry joined us)! I can't believe my sweet girl is two!!!

The not so fun part about turning 2:

Maury's first trip to the dentist! I found out today that Maury is just like her mommy when it comes to visiting the dentist. It took three of us to hold her down and she screamed throughout the torture, I mean cleaning. It really only took a couple of minutes but she was not a fan. She got to put her hand print on a ceiling tile before we left but had not really forgiven the staff for cleaning her teeth so even the painting didn't cheer her up. She was her normal happy self by the time we got to the car but I'm already dreading our next visit!

Carter got to go play with Pierce while we went to the dentist. They had a lot of fun watching Baby Einstein!

Let the birthday festivities begin!

Maury is turning two this week and we began celebrating on Sunday at her birthday party! We had lots of fun bouncing, riding, and playing all afternoon with our friends and family! We practiced blowing out candles beforehand but Maury was still a little unsure about it all. She will have more opportunities before it's all over with because we still have celebrating to do on her actual bday, at school and at another party at Migi and Papa C's in Brandon!

First Hair Cut

Yesterday I reluctantly took Carter for his first hair cut. It's been in his eyes for quite a while but I just did not want him to have a big boy hair cut. Luckily, after stressing how much I did not want to cut it, the sweet lady gave him a tiny trim, just enough to keep him from being shaggy but not really enough to tell. He was a handful in the boat until they gave him a sucker :)

Babies

Maury is REALLY into babies these days. She feeds them, changes them, some of them use the potty, they watch TV with her and they go on outings with us. This week they have gone from all being called "baby" to having names. She knows the difference in each and always calls them by the right name. Oh, and she sleeps with all of them.....how uncomfortable must that be!

10 Months

Carter was 10 months old yesterday and I didn't realize it until bedtime and I snapped a quick picture. Of course big sister wanted her picture taken too! Carter is getting into more everyday and I'm thinking of buying him a helmet! I can't believe he is already 10 months and Maury will be 2 next week! Where does the time go?
